Need an Emergency Plumber?
24hr Emergency Call Out - Nobody expects a major leak, however all heating and water systems are made from a combination of plastic, rubber and metals that perish with time, potentially causing leaks when we least expect and often in places that are unreachable.
Even with due diligence and regular servicing, no one can predict those accidents such as carpet layers damaging pipes when nailing down grippers, or a homeowner piercing a pipe in a wall when hanging a picture or mirror.
Older gravity fed heating and water systems are a ticking time bomb as they store 100's of litres of water above our heads in tanks and cylinders and they do split from time-to-time cascading their content throughout a property causing irreparable damage.

What can I do if I get a leak?
Whilst your SimPlumb emergency plumber is on his way to you you can do the following to try to minimise the damage dependent upon the emergency:
- Don't Panic!
- If there is an isolating valve close to the leak, turn it a quarter to isolate the leaking pipe.
- Identify the location of your stop-cock and attempt to close it by turning it to the right.
- If you have turned off the water, turn off your boiler.
- Identify the location of the mains stop-cock, normally in the street close to the boundary property
- If water is coming through a ceiling, put a bucket in place to catch the water
- Turn off the electricity at the fuse box, water tends to find electric ducting, cables and light fittings as path to flow downwards
